On the internet, the possibilities are endless.
If you have a skill, you can sell it.
If you have an idea, it can be turned into income.
One of the best and easiest ways to do this is by turning your knowledge, skill, or idea into a digital product.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could work from home for a few hours per day and still earn a full-time income?
If you said, "YES, sister, that's me," then this post is for you.
Let's jump right in!
When I first decided to create a digital product, I made a how-to guide. This guide helped me achieve my first $1000 day.
At that moment, I knew I was onto something big, and the potential to make a lot of money with digital products was enormous!
Since creating that first digital product, I have made money with courses, printables, Canva templates, and more.
What has made this process so easy is that I didn't have to learn or invest in expensive design tools like Photoshop or InDesign.
In fact, I've used free tools like Canva. Canva has revolutionized graphic design, and with minimal creativity or tech experience, anyone can use its drag-and-drop feature to create beautiful digital products or graphics. The best part is that they have top-notch quality and look incredibly professional.
But here's where you can make some money, honey.
Yes, you can use Canva to create amazing digital downloads. But what if you could sell those digital downloads and templates you create to people who know how to use Canva but don't have the time to create something from scratch?
There are millions of bloggers and business owners who want stunning graphics for their brand to boost their sales. Those are the customers you want to target and sell to.
So, where do you need to start?
I'm going to show you the exact process I've followed to make money while sleeping, vacationing, and spending time with my kiddos. Step 1: What are you going to sell, sis?
To make money, you first need a product. And secondly, you need people who want to buy that product.
So, before you start creating digital products in Canva, you need to decide what kind of digital products you're going to make and who you're going to sell them to.
This means you have to understand the types of planners, printables, guides, ebooks, etc., that your ideal customer needs.
For example:
If your ideal customer is a blogger or online business owner, you know they need social media graphics, lead magnets to grow their email lists, ebooks, worksheets, workbooks, checklists, planners, etc.
If your ideal customer is an author or speaker, they could benefit from media kits.
If your ideal customer is a t-shirt maker, you can create t-shirt templates or social media templates to help them market and advertise.
If your ideal customer wants to get in shape, you can create editable meal planners, calorie trackers, weight loss trackers, or healthy recipe cookbooks.
If your ideal customer wants to get out of debt, you can sell an ebook on paying off debt and also create budget planners, expense trackers, etc.
Once you know who your ideal customer is, you need to figure out what would make their lives easier. Step 2: Validate your product offerings
What you want to create and what your audience wants to buy may differ. So, before you invest a lot of time into creating your digital products to sell, it's crucial to validate your ideas through market research.
But how do you go about it?
1. Ask: Have conversations with individuals who belong to your target audience and find out if they would find your digital product ideas beneficial or helpful. You can also join relevant Facebook groups within your niche and ask the members the same question.
2. Give: Offer a freebie or a lead magnet to potential customers. You can even provide a lite version of your product as this freebie. Are people subscribing to your freebie? Are they sharing and talking about it? This not only helps grow your email list for future marketing but also provides valuable insights into demand. If you're not getting many sign-ups for your freebie, it's an indication that this might not be the right digital product to pursue. However, remember that actively marketing and promoting your freebie is essential for obtaining an accurate analysis.
3. Research: If you don't have your own blog community, email list, or Facebook group, leverage other online communities to conduct your research. Explore what others are successfully selling online. What types of products are industry leaders selling?
By conducting thorough research and validation, you can ensure that there is a genuine demand for your digital products, setting yourself up for success in the market. Step 3: Create your collection of digital downloads
Now that you have an idea of what you want to sell, it's time to create your digital products. When doing this, it's best to create a collection of products to launch together.
Step 4: Choose the best tools to create your digital downloads
Depending on the type of digital products you plan to create, there are various tools available. As mentioned earlier, I highly recommend Canva. It's a free online design tool with amazing features that can make your designs look professional even if you're just starting out. Canva provides templates that can assist you in creating your digital products.
Canva is particularly popular for creating social media graphics, presentations, and business cards. It saves time and money for business owners and allows them to create professional-looking graphics without needing to learn expensive design tools.
Canva is perfect for beginners and offers a free plan. There's also a Pro Plan available for $12.99 per month, which includes additional features to make creating your digital products even easier. The Pro version is definitely worth the price.
You can use Canva on your laptop, desktop, iPad, and phone.
Step 5: Delivering your digital products
There are different types of digital products with varying levels of customization:
1. Non-fillable or non-editable digital products: These products are downloaded as PDFs, and customers can read or print them but cannot type into or change the structure of the document.
2. Typeable or fillable, but not editable digital products: These products are also saved as PDFs. Customers can download them and type into the PDF but cannot change the structure of the document.
3. Editable digital products: If you're selling editable templates using Canva, you can share the template link with customers. Upon purchase, they receive the link and can access their copy of the template, which opens in the Canva dashboard. This allows customers to customize the branding and structure of the document.
Step 6: Set up your online shop
There are different platforms you can use to deliver your digital products:
- Blog platforms like WordPress or Squarespace
- E-commerce platforms like Shopify or Etsy
Personally, I sell my digital products through a Stan Store. It's like a souped-up version of a link in bio that allows customers to quickly and easily purchase your digital products.
Setting up an online shop will provide a convenient and accessible way for customers to browse, purchase, and receive your digital products. The main thing to consider when choosing an online space to sell your digital products is that you want your checkout process to be automated. So, you want the digital download to automatically be sent out to your customer for you. Step 7: Drive traffic to your website
Having amazing digital products is great, but without effective marketing, you won't be able to generate income. Your digital products won't be beneficial if no one knows they exist. Creating the products is the easy part; now it's time to learn how to get people's attention and drive traffic to your products.
Just as a brick and mortar store needs foot traffic, your online store needs web traffic. The more traffic you can drive to your website, the more potential sales you can generate.
I personally use Pinterest and social media marketing to promote my content and drive people to my site. So, what's next? Digital products are an incredible avenue for creating passive income. I've explored various income streams, including network marketing, speaking engagements, brand design services, and one-on-one coaching, but none have come close to the revenue generated by digital products. There is immense power and profit in packaging your knowledge and expertise into digital products. By following the steps outlined in this blog post, you'll gain the confidence to create your own passive income stream by selling downloadable planners, printables, and digital products on your blog!
To start generating passive income online through digital products, courses, and membership sites, take a moment to ask yourself:
1. Why? Why do I want to create digital products? (Is it for time freedom, passive income, additional revenue streams, etc.)
2. If anything were possible, what types of digital products would I choose to create?
3. How much money do I envision making from selling my own digital products?
Asking these questions will help you set the foundation for generating the income you truly desire!
If you're unsure how to execute the steps outlined above, I recommend checking out my comprehensive step-by-step video course. It provides detailed guidance on implementing my exact methods. Inside the course, you'll find all the necessary resources to kickstart your journey towards manifesting a passive income-generating business and the fulfilling life you deserve.
